Branden’s Story

My name is Branden and I will be a sophomore this fall at Caprock High School. My grandma is raising my younger brother, my little cousin and me. We became homeless May 26, 2022 and Jesus led us to Martha’s Home that same day. We were blessed with a roof over our heads, food on our table, clothes, shoes, and anything we could possibly need. But more importantly, we were blessed with some of the most caring, loving, compassionate, empathetic people we had ever met and made lifelong friends as well. PLACE TO CALL HOME Martha’s Home has served a a safe place for homeless women and mothers with children, for 35 years! Beyond Perseverance

Homelessness rarely is a choice you make. Sometimes it is just the hand you are dealt. Meet Diana! At an early age, Diana’s parents moved back to Guatemala. Separated from her family, her aunt and uncle agreed to take care of her and her siblings. Soon that arrangement changed and she moved to Amarillo and lived with her godmother. While attending Palo Duro High School, she again found her journey tethered with no where to live. The counselor at PDHS referred her to Martha’s Home and by the grace of God, Martha’s Home had a spot open. Diana graduated from […]

Society turns its back on the homeless, addicts, the mentally ill, and those who just fall on hard times. Many individuals in our community, if given the opportunity and tools, can thrive and become self-sufficient. I discovered hopelessness by being homeless, living on the streets as an addict, and not owning anything except for the clothes on my back and the shoes on my feet. I did not have an ID […]

Martha’s Heart

Strength, Perserverance and Unconditional Love Margie has overcome pain, loss, tragedy, abandonment, and rejection from birth. Unknowingly, this was the beginning of many challenges she would face throughout life. However, those challenges became the fuel God would use to make her more than a conqueror. Abandoned by her mother at 6 months old, Margie was raised by her father. Growing up in his household became abusive and soon she was in foster care and eventually living with relatives. At 15, Margie witnessed the ability of God to change her father’s life and the relationship was restored. 10 months later, her […]
